How do I view & use recipes in Mealeez?

Once you've found a recipe you're interested in, Mealeez provides a detailed view with all the information you need. Here's how to access and understand the recipe details:

  1. Access the Recipe Details: After viewing the recipes area or searching for recipes (as described in the "How do I search for recipes?" FAQ), tap on the recipe to view its details.

  2. Recipe Overview: The recipe details screen typically displays:

    • Recipe Name
    • A photo of the finished dish
    • A brief description or summary of the recipe
    • Cooking time (preparation time, cooking time)
    • Serving size (you can change this to suit the serving size you require. The ingredients will automatically adjust).
    • Rating
    • Original recipe information (if Mealeez has sourced this recipe from somewhere else, we'll display a link back to the original)
  3. Ingredients: Scroll to the "Ingredients" section to see a list of all the ingredients and portion sizes needed for the recipe. Mealeez will scan the ingredients to see if there is anything that might be unsuitable, and will highlight these ingredients in purple.

  4. Method: Swipe (in the app) or tap (app/website) the "Method" section to see the step-by-step instructions for preparing the recipe. You can tap on any instruction to mark it as complete.

  5. Nutritional Information: The recipe lists nutritional information to the UK's Food Standard Agency guidance, which uses a traffic light system for nutrition information. It is a front-of-pack labeling system that uses red, amber, and green colors to indicate high, medium, and low levels of fat, saturated fat, sugars, and salt in food products.

  6. User Reviews/Ratings: Swip to (or tap) the "Comments" area where you can view ratings, read reviews and check out any photos of the recipe submitted by other users.

  7. Bookmark/Sharing Options: You can tap the bookmark icon at the top right of the screen to save this recipe to your bookmarks to look at later. You can also tap to share using the "share" icon at the top of the screen, to share this recipe with others. On the website, you'll see an additional option to allow you to embed this entire recipe on your own webpage.

  8. My Recipe Assistant (subscription required): Your personal Recipe Assistant checks over the recipe for unsafe ingredients, and will suggest alternatives, along with any changes required to the method. There are two ways to invoke the Assistant:
    1. Tap on an individual ingredient if it is highlighted in purple. Your Assistant will give a detailed suggestion on how it can be replaced.
    2. Tap the Assistant icon (top right of the screen) and it will suggest a complete solution for the recipe and all it's ingredients.
